The big one: Wembanyama signs for five years, $252M
Victor Wembanyama agreed to a five-year, $252 million maximum rookie-scale extension with a player option in year five, per ESPN. He passed on supermax escalators worth up to ~$303 million, a structure that reportedly saves the team about $50 million and preserves room to extend Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper in the coming summers. Re-signings
- Jordan McLaughlin returns on a one-year, $3.3 million deal, per Yahoo Sports. Steady third point guard who knows the system.
- Julian Champagnie is also back, keeping intact a starting five that reportedly went 21–3 last season when Wembanyama, Fox, Castle, Vassell, and Champagnie shared the floor.
What’s ahead
- FIBA duty: Wembanyama is already working out in France with trainer Guillaume Alquier and is set to play for the French national team in the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers in August, per Heavy.
- Castle and Harper extensions: not due yet, but every cap decision this summer is being made with those two paydays in mind.
